If you haven’t tried Anna’s vegan cupcakes yet, what are you waiting for! Create an occasion – your dog’s birthday, your veganniversary…..anything! I decided to sample some of Anna’s cupcakes after seeing a post by her on Facebook. At the time of writing there is nowhere in Harrogate that makes vegan cupcakes, so it is refreshing to have Anna in our midst! Anna brought me four different flavours to sample. All were made with the same sort of sponge base (apart from the strawberry one which had a lovely gooey suprise of jam in the middle) but the toppings were all decadently different – biscotti, chocolate, strawberry creme and salted caramel. All absolutely scrummy (but I am a chocaholic, so you can guess which was my fave).
Anna does not have an official premises from which she sells the cakes, but you can order via her website or Facebook page (bakerscakes). She needs a couple of days notice for a cupcake order and around 2 weeks for a cake. Outside of baking she works full time, so is a busy lady. Aside from the usual health and safety/food hygiene stuff Anna has no official training and has taught herself to bake through her own practice and dedication, and watching videos online.
Eating a mainly plant based diet herself and with lots of vegan friends, Anna decided making a vegan cupcake alternative was a good route to go down, and sources all her ingredients carefully. Her products are made to order but you also see her at some vegan fairs, including WinterFest in Leeds this year (26th November). When she isn’t busy working or baking, Anna loves to hang out with Patrick, the cat who thinks he’s a dog!
